Welcome to Hannahbella’s Adventures!

Hello From Bristol!

I am Hannahbella, I’m a photographer and writer based in Bristol. And after 13 years in this wonderful city I feel it is time for to shake it up a bit! So I have just put my house on the market to begin an epic adventure around the world!

This blog will be where I share my experiences, where I am, what I am doing and trying out, moments of “woah, go see this” or “don’t use the rickshaws here!”, photographs, jokes, recipes and stories from around the world. I don’t know how long I am going for, or if and when I am coming back! I am throwing caution to the wind and jumping into life!

A little bit about myself

As some of you may already know, I have a passion for photography, landscape, astrophotography to macro, well all sorts really! Here’s a little of my work background: I have been a blogger for Time out Bristol for a year, Best of Bristol, 365 Bristol  and now work as a freelance writer, features editor, reviewer as well as a photojornalist. And as a freelance photographer. I have had my photographs featured on BBC Stargazing, Sky at night and have written a Guest blog for BBC Winterwatch alongside being published on other sites, newspapers and magazines and have been on the radio. It’s been a very busy year! But I am longing for adventure, so I will be focusing on travel and my new blog 🙂

I am a daydreamer, a lover of the great outdoors and country walks with my  family and friends, cycling, surfing and paddleboarding. I love camping under the stars, getting lost in astronomy, astrophotography, music, travel & laughter. I need to get out the city and do these things! I am doing this journey solo, so if you like these things too, come and share the journey with me and see my new life through a lens (and through my terrible spelling!).

My Plan:

My aim is to make a trail around the planet visiting as many dark sky reserves as possible. Dark sky reserves are areas of complete darkness which have barely any light pollution, there aren’t that many official ones but there are still many beautifully dark places. I am currently in the research phase and still packing up my house. In the next couple of weeks I should have completed the sale of my house and have my life in storage and be ready to buy tickets and jet off to the first stop on my tour, Canada. 🙂

The dream list of destinations so far:

Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, California (Joshua Tree National Park), Chile, Bolivia, Mexico, New Zealand, the Cook Islands, Japan and a few more! Will have to see what order they will go in when booking the tickets!

I have only been to one of these countries on my list before, the north Island of New Zealand for a month. I have fair bit of experience with travelling and really looking forward to starting this epic journey!

But first I must, pack up the house, put my life into storage and apply for a hell of a lot of visas before saying goodbye to Bristol life, and seek out dark starry skies.

Watch this space 🙂 I am really looking forward to sharing my adventures with you.
